Solemnly displaying condolence and solidarity, the lawmaker representing Gbonyin/ Aiyekire Constituency in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Princess Teju Okuyiga has led a delegation of the distinguished female cohort of the Assembly to pay respects to the bereaved family of the late APC chairman in Ekiti State, Barrister Paul Omotosho.
Princess Okuyiga and her entourage had on Wednesday converge on the Imesi Ekiti residence and native home of the departed state party leader for the visitation. In her tribute, Okuyiga eulogized Barrister Omotosho, desciribing him as a pillar of leadership, an epitome of reliability, and an invaluable constituent whose legacy reverberated across his community, the All Progressives Congress, and the entirety of Ekiti State.
Reflecting on the sudden demise of the legal luminary, Princess Okuyiga expressed profound shock and sorrow, emphasizing the unpredictability of life’s fleeting nature.
In her word, “His death came as a very rude shock to me, though I wasn’t in the country when it happened, everybody was devastated because no one would have expected him to die even when he was at work that very day. But what can we do? God giveth and taketh. We have to thank God for a life well spent though short but very eventful he had lived.”
Recalling Barrister Omotosho’s courage and candor, Princess Okuyiga reminisced, that “Oga Paul was a soldier, a one man battalion, he meant different things to different people, to me, he was a brave person, and he was somebody that knows when to stop. He would tell you as it is, without any pretense. May God rest his soul.”
The lawmaker who explained that she was not in the country when the incident happened had earlier expressed her sorrow in a missive sent to the press.
Accompanying Princess Okuyiga on the poignant visitation were notable members of the Assembly including Mrs Iyabo Fakunle Okhiemen of Ilejemeje, Mrs Abimbola Solanke of Moba, Alhaja Mariam Ogunlade, and former Assembly member Mrs Kemi Balogun.
Extolling his strategic acumen and unparalleled wisdom, each member in their different tributes, highlighted the irreplaceable void left by the late APC chairman in the political landscape of the state.
Princess Okuyiga presented a condolence letter to the grieving family, alongside relief materials, assuring them of her active participation in the burial arrangements scheduled for April.
The Chairman of Aiyekire Constituency, Mr Davies Adeyemo, received the letter on behalf of the family, expressing profound gratitude amidst overwhelming sorrow.
As the entire communities in Gbonyin/Aiyekire grapple with the loss of a visionary leader whose legacy they said shall endure in the annals of Ekiti State, prayers were offered by the delegation for the eternal repose of the departed soul.
