The poeple of Igede Ekiti, Irepodun/ Ifelodun Local government headquarters in Ekiti state have warned political trouble makers in the state against entry into the town at any activities of any political party.
The people under the aegis of Igede Progressive Association (IPA) said that they were aware of the upbeat of political activities and the tensions towards the June 18 Governorship election, therefore making a strong warning that anyone planning to cause riot or involved in mayhem in the town would face wraths from every available means of sanctioning.
A statement issued on the 11th April, 2022 and signed by the IPA Deputy President, Chief Remi Olowoloba, noted that Igede poeple are accommodating and peace loving, therefore all political parties are welcome for their peaceful activities.
According to the statement,” we are abreast of the news of high level hooliganism that played out at Efon-Alaaye during the visit of Engineer Segun Oni, one of the aspirants to the Governorship seat of Ekiti state. We are equally aware of the issues raised on the IPA WhatsApp platform about concerns of the possibility of a similar show of shame at Igede as the same Governorship candidate is billed to visit Irepodun/ Ifelodun Local Government tomorrow, Tuesday April 12, 2022,
…We therefore warn very vehemently all trouble makers and agents of violence to desist from such acts particularly on Igede-Ekiti soil and indeed all towns within and around us. Igede – Ekiti will consider as “persona non grata” any indigene or resident who allows himself/or herself to be used as agents of violence and illegality under any guise.
It is our desire to collaborate with all responsible members of our community including the law enforcement agents towards ensuring that no perpetrators of acts of evil and violence go unpunished. IGEDE – EKITI IS OPEN TO ALL POLITICAL PARTIES whereby all citizens therein are free to belong to any Association of their choice be it political or otherwise”
The Igede Ekiti Progressive Association therefore called on the ‘ENUMO’ (Onigede in Council) and the Law Enforcement Agencies to be proactive in calling all agents of violence to order and doing the needful to prevent riots during political outings. Igede welcomes all Political aspirants.
