In realization of his plans to ensure transparency, accountability and effective implementation of budgetary provisions for 2023 fiscal year, Eki ti state Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has begun a meeting with various ministries, departments, agencies and parastatals in the state.
The briefing had in attendance, the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade AFUYE and other members of the state executive council.
One after the other, the representatives in the health sector, with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mr Olabisi Arogundade taking the lead, explained the major functions of the sector, gave the breakdown of their budgetary provisions for the outgoing year, their achievements and challenges which included, inadequate medical personnel, operational vehicles, office accommodation among others.
Also, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Babatunde Alokan and representatives of agencies in the ministry briefed the Governor on the financial expenditure in 2022 and sought government assistance in the ministry to perform optimally in the coming
year.
Others who gave their briefings were, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Education. science and Technology.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji said the essence of the briefings was not to chastise or witch-hunt any office on performance, but to know the facts on runnings of government programmes in the respective MDAs and Parastatals with a view to addressing the loopholes in the 2023 budget.
He however told them not to rely solely on allocations directly accrued to them before carrying out the necessary obligations but put in extra efforts to suppor government’s drive at ensuring effective service delivery.
The Head of Service, Mr Bamidele Agbede said the budgetary meeting was in tandem with the custom of the civil service which he affirmed would fast track the implementations of financial activities in the coming Year.
There were observations and clarifications from members of the State Executive on the presentations.
The briefing of the MDAs with Mr Governor continues on Tuesday with other MDAs.
