Tinubu Filed Defense Against Obi’s Petition, Says he Lacks Locus Standi

Nigerian President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu  has filed a defense to the petition filed by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, challenging the result of the just concluded presidential election.

In the defense filed by lead Counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Tinubu  queried Mr. Obi’s locus standi to present the petition, as he (Obi) was not qualified to contest the election, being that his name was missing on the Register of members submitted by Labour Party to INEC 30 days before the election.

Tinubu also pointed out that Obi deliberately misrepresented that a criminal forfeiture order was made by the US District Court, pursuant to 18 USC 982, when in fact, no such order was made or criminal jurisdiction exercised by the court.
