Barely 48 hours after the Inauguration of a new Governing Council for the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere Ekiti (BOUESTI), the institution played host to the officials of the National University Commission NUC for an accreditation exercise.
About thirty three courses were presented for NUC approval, adding up to 45 accredited courses in 2022.
The NUC Resource verification team was at the University to scrutinize the proposed programmes as well as conduct resource and facility assessment
Welcoming the team the New Chairman BOUESTI Governing Council Prof Dioo Aina explained that it was a new Dawn for the institution as the state government had given them the mandate to reposition the educational institution.
According to him, the new council had done various overt and covert checks, confident that the courses will get the NUC approval, urging the team to be fair and objective in carrying out their checks.
He noted that the University was making a giant stride at becoming the best in the country, setting the pace of twenty first century University for others while students also learn self sustenance and reliance through vocational and technology courses.
The Vice Chancellor Prof Victor Adeoluwa who also said the University, after it’s transition from College of Education to a degree awarding institution, already has the required structure, manpower and facilities required by the NUC.
He said that the school had upgraded within the last two years
Responding, the NUC team lead, who doubles as the Director of academic plannin, Clara Abu explained that the Commission was committed to raising the bar of education standard in the country.
Some of the proposed courses for accreditation, Education Technology,
Procurement Management, Library and Information Science, Bsc Public Health.
Biochemistry, Industrial Design, History and Internatiinal Studies, Mechanic Engineering, Transport and Logistics management among others
