As part of the efforts to cushion the effects of the economic challenges currently facing the citizens, the Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Special Duty, Mr. Ayomide George Ojo, on Thursday, empowered over 100 residents at his political ward in Iyin Ekiti. 

The Governor’s aide who is the son of the late Chief Femi George Ojo, a renowned political leader in Iyin Ekiti, stressed that the empowerment program was motivated by Governor Oyebanji’s ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the prosperity and well-being of the state’s citizens.

He described the gesture as an extension of the Governor’s hand of love, which has been felt across Ekiti through various people-centered projects, noting that replicating such towards the welfare of the people remains the best of all priorities for any political office holder in the state.

Speaking with journalists after the event, the governor’s aide reiterated his support for the Oyebanji administration’s shared prosperity agenda, noting that it requires the dedication and backing of all Ekiti citizens.

In his words “The achievements and efforts of the Oyebanji administration towards realizing this agenda are visible, and as citizens, we must support and contribute our quota to ensure the sustainability of these strides,” he said.

He disclosed that the second phase of the empowerment initiative would be launched before the end of the year, with plans to reach even more beneficiaries in the community.

Addressing the growing clamour for Governor Oyebanji’s second term, George Ojo expressed confidence that the administration would secure widespread support from all segments of the population.

“I am not surprised by the mass movement calling for Governor Oyebanji’s second term, as the government’s initiatives have resonated deeply with different demographics. The current administration has delivered numerous dividends of democracy, and with more time, Ekiti State will be lifted to greater heights,” he added.

Using the avenue to educate the people on the various record breaking feats of the current administration, and how more people can benefits from the government, he called on residents to continue supporting and praying for the success of the Oyebanji administration, urging all stakeholders to work together in fostering the state’s growth.

He charged them to always act appropriately on valid information provided to them noting that the present administration creates a level playing ground for equal access to opportunities for all citizens irrespective of whatever affiliations.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Araromi Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Chief Wale Alade, lauded the efforts of the late Chief Femi George Ojo, Ayomide’s father, and highlighted the impactful legacies he left behind in Iyin Ekiti.

Alade stressed that Ayomide’s gesture was not surprising, as it was a continuation of his father’s dedication to community development.

“Chief Femi George Ojo was a pillar in this community, and his son is following in his footsteps by ensuring that the people are not forgotten,” Alade said.

He further called on other political office holders in the state to emulate the example set by the Governor’s aide, noting that such initiatives would help deepen democracy and spread the dividends of good governance among the people.

The Chairman of Ward B in Iyin Ekiti, Mr. Moses Akinsanya, also commended George Ojo, describing him as a leader who has always been close to the people, even before his official appointment.

According to Akinsanya, “Ayomide George Ojo has shown himself to be a responsible and dedicated leader. Since his appointment, he has consistently empowered citizens and facilitated opportunities for the people.”

Akinsanya also commended Governor Oyebanji for appointing eleven individuals from Iyin Ekiti into various political positions, describing the gesture as unprecedented,  expressing optimism that such moves would foster greater development in the community.

The beneficiaries of the empowerment program, which included 40 party members from Ward B and over 60 residents of Iyin Ekiti, ranging from motorcycle operators (Okada riders), market women, youths, and students, expressed gratitude to Mr. George Ojo for his support. They applauded his efforts in bringing the governor’s development initiatives to the grassroots, and ensuring that even those in the local community felt the impact of the state government’s good governance.
