The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has reassured residents of the state of his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, harmony, and the smooth conduct of business activities as Ekiti prepares for the June 20 gubernatorial election.
The governor gave the assurance at the 2026 Inter faith Thanksgiving Service held at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre in Ado Ekiti where he urged political actors across the state to conduct their activities peacefully and play by the rules without resorting to violence.

Governor Oyebanji who used the occasion to express gratitude to civil servants, members of the political class, traditional rulers, and the general populace for their support since his administration assumed office in 2022, said the state had enjoyed the grace of God in the past three years, making it necessary for the people to continually return thanks to God.
The Governor cautioned against actions capable of disrupting the peace, progress, and development recorded in the state, noting that the cordial relationship among the arms of government and the implementation of people centered policies had contributed significantly to the achievements so far.
According to him, political violence must not be allowed to truncate the gains.
The governor stressed the need for fairness and responsible conduct by all political parties, adding that peace remained critical to the continued growth and stability of the state while calling on residents to remain law abiding and supportive of government efforts.
Governor Oyebanji also urged the people to position themselves to take advantage of the opportunities promised in 2026, assuring them that his administration remained focused on policies that would further improve their wellbeing.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for the policies of the Federal Government, which he said were beginning to yield positive results. According to the governor, recent improvements have been recorded in food prices, petrol availability, infrastructure development, and agricultural growth across the country.
Earlier in their separate sermons, the Ekiti State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev Emmanuel Aribasoye, and the Qarreb Missioner of Ekiti State, Alhaji Abdul Hakeem Afenifere, charged residents to remain grateful, contented, and faithful in their dealings.
They encouraged the people to use their resources in ways that please God and emphasized that true service to God is reflected in service to humanity.
Also speaking, the President of the League of Imams and Alfas in the South West, Edo, and Delta States, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere, commended the Oyebanji administration for balancing human development with community development across the state.
The inter faith service featured prayers for the governor, Ekiti State, and the nation at large, with religious leaders calling for sustained peace, unity, and progress as the state approaches the gubernatorial election.
