The Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji has called on the leadership of the various MDAs and parastatals to set up internal committee on budget in their various offices in order to ensure that their proposals align perfectly with the budget plan of the state for the 2026 fiscal year.

The Governor made the call at the Treasury Board Meeting with senior government officials across MDAs and extra-Ministerial Departments on the proposed 2026 budget, held at the lady Jibowu Hall Government House Ground Ado Ekiti

The Governor who explained that his administration was using budget planning and fiscal discipline as a tool for economic transformation of the state, noted that government was expanding the economic base to allow active participation of the private sectors in driving critical areas of the economy.

 

Governor Oyebanji who emphasized that government was particularly making solid investment in the agricultural strength of the state to address unemployment and food insecurity, said explained that the 2026 budget will focus primarily on completion of all ongoing infrastructural projects across the various communities.

 

He said his administration had been prudent in managing the resources of the state in the last three years and would not allow any leakage whatsoever.

 

Oyebanji thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the state while also commending the effort of the Internal Revenue Service at increasing the revenue generation of the state, soliciting more support from the workers in advancing the shared prosperity agenda  in 2026.

 

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Budget Mr Akinluyi who explained that the state budget performance in 2023, 2024 and 2025 had been a progression of systemic growth, said the government had not taken any loan since inception.

 

He noted that the projection for the 2026 budget has been put at 415 billion Naira with the recurrent expenditure of 252 billion Naira.
