The youths of Are Ekiti have expressed deep appreciation to community leader and business tycoon, Aare Idowu Akomolafe, for donating about 70 solar powered street lights across all quarters of the town, describing the gesture as a landmark intervention that has changed the face of the community.
Speaking during the commissioning of the project led by the Monarch of the town Oba Boluwade Adebiyi, the President of the youth body, Mr Olumide Folorunsho-Anisulowo, and the Secretary Mr Tunde Babatola said the solar street light project has restored pride, safety and renewed social life to the town, especially at night.
They noted that streets which were once dark and deserted now remain active and secure, allowing residents to move freely and businesses to thrive saying that the donation reflects genuine love for the community and a strong commitment to selfless service of Aare Akomolafe whom that explained had once again demonstrated that meaningful development begins when successful sons of the soil invest back into their roots.
According to the youths, the impact of the project goes beyond lighting streets, as it has also boosted economic activities, reduced security concerns and encouraged social interaction among residents. They said the solar powered nature of the lights also shows foresight and concern for sustainable development.
The youth leadership further commended the traditional institution and community stakeholders for supporting the project and creating an atmosphere of unity around its commissioning.
