The member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Oluwafemi Bamisile, has expressed appreciation to members of the All Progressives Congress and constituents for endorsing his bid for a third term at the National Assembly through the party’s primary election.
Bamisile, who emerged victorious in the recently concluded APC House of Representatives primary, described the outcome as a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence reposed in his leadership and legislative performance over the years.
Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti, the federal lawmaker said the victory reflected the commitment of party members and constituents to progressive politics, participatory democracy and continuity in governance. He noted that the support received from delegates and party faithful would further motivate him to intensify efforts at delivering quality representation to the people of the constituency.
The lawmaker assured residents of Ekiti South Federal Constituency II that he would continue to attract developmental projects, facilitate empowerment programmes and pursue people oriented legislation capable of improving the welfare of the people.
Bamisile also pledged to deploy his academic background and legislative experience towards strengthening policy formulation and effective lawmaking at the National Assembly. According to him, education, intellectual depth and research driven governance remain critical ingredients for national development and sustainable democracy.
The APC chieftain, who holds a doctorate degree in Peace and Security Studies, stressed the need for lawmakers to focus more on evidence based legislation that can effectively address Nigeria’s socio economic and security challenges.
He explained that his combined experience in academics, politics and public service had equipped him with the capacity to contribute meaningfully to national discourse, institutional reforms and policies aimed at promoting peace, security and economic stability across the country.
Bamisile, however, raised concerns over the growing security threats confronting communities around the constituency, particularly border areas linked to parts of Kogi and Ondo states. He lamented the increasing activities of criminal elements operating within the axis and called for stronger collaboration among security agencies and local stakeholders.
The lawmaker maintained that addressing insecurity in border communities would remain one of his top priorities if re elected for another term in office. He promised to work closely with security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and vigilante groups to strengthen local security architecture and ensure the protection of lives and property.
He further commended the APC for adopting the direct primary mode in the conduct of its elections, describing the process as credible, transparent and reflective of democratic ideals. According to him, direct primaries provide ordinary party members with the opportunity to actively participate in the emergence of candidates, thereby strengthening internal democracy within political parties.
Bamisile added that wider adoption of transparent electoral processes would deepen public confidence in Nigeria’s democracy and reduce political tension associated with candidate selection processes.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC and its progressive ideals, the federal lawmaker promised to continue championing policies and legislative initiatives that would improve the living conditions of his constituents and Nigerians at large.
