A former aspirant in the just concluded All Progressives Congress primary election for the House of Representatives seat in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I, Dr Yemi Olayinka, has congratulated the winner of the contest, Sola Fatoba, describing the exercise as peaceful and democratic. Olayinka, who accepted the outcome of the election, said he remained committed to the ideals of the party and the advancement of democracy.
In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Olayinka commended Fatoba for what he called a well contested victory and also praised other contestants in the race, including Architect Tope Ogunleye and Hon. Sunday Ola, for their conduct during the exercise. He described all the aspirants as heroes who contributed to the strengthening of internal democracy within the party.
The APC chieftain also lauded members of the party and residents of Ekiti Central Senatorial District for the overwhelming support given to Senate Leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, describing his emergence as a reflection of confidence in his representation at the National Assembly. According to him, Bamidele had continued to make Ekiti proud through quality leadership and effective representation in the Senate.
Olayinka urged party members to put the primary election behind them and unite in the interest of the APC ahead of future political contests in the state. He stressed the need for peace, unity and collective commitment towards ensuring victory for the party, noting that democracy could only thrive where members worked together in harmony and mutual understanding.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the APC to emerge stronger after the primaries, adding that the enthusiasm displayed by party faithful during the exercise should be sustained in future elections. He said all stakeholders must remain focused on strengthening the party’s structures and mobilising support across the state.
The former aspirant also appreciated President Bola Tinubu, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and members of the APC national leadership for ensuring a peaceful and credible primary election process in the state. He noted that the orderly conduct of the exercise further demonstrated the maturity of the party’s democratic process.
Olayinka reaffirmed his support for Governor Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 governorship election in the state, pledging to work with other party leaders and supporters to ensure the APC records victory at the polls.
