The need for significant innovations in the building and sustaining future for the Education sector in Nigeria was the focus of the 66th inaugural lecture of the Ekiti State University EKSU, Ado Ekiti.
Delivered by Professor Comfort Olufunke Akomolafe, the lecture titled “culture of innovation in managing education: what matters? dissected the key things to be done in bringing progress and acceptable development to the Nigerian Education system.
At the academic gathering, Prof Akomolafe explained that the level of innovations in education world over, particularly in the southern hemisphere, is at a very slow pace and needs new ideas to make meaningful impacts in salvaging humanity.
According to her, the lack of innovation has negatively affected the economic, social relationship, professions and careers, limiting the maximization of human potentials and making people to run a rat race.
She noted that the process of harnessing , organising and coordinating human and financial resources for new ideas and innovations in the contemporary world needs high level of dynamism and technological innovations.
The Don emphasized on the need for stakeholders in the education sector to take the maximum advantages promised by the Information and communication (ICT) which has become the global trend of operations.
She differed on the conservativeness of the Nigerian Education curriculum which she said had not allowed students and teachers to discover their practical ability at solving societal problems through technology.
The Professor of Educational Management recommended training and retraining of educational administrators, collaborative efforts and the imbibe of innovation culture.

The Vice chancellor Prof Edward Olanipekun commended the Inaugura lecturer for doing justice to the topic and congratulated her for attaining thee highest rank in the academic field.
Other scholars scholars at the adjudged the lecture as one basic and practical solutions to the challenges of the Nigerian Education system. They called on Government to always take academic researches as panacea to the leadership and followership problems of the Nation.
Prof Comfort Olufunke Akomolafe had NCE, B.Ed M.Ed and Ph.D in Educational Management.
