A foremost medical practitioner and community leader in Gbonyin Aiyekire Local Government Area, Dr Shina Awojolu, has commended the administration of Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as remarkable strides in infrastructure and grassroots development across Ekiti State, with particular emphasis on projects sited in Gbonyin and Aiyekire councils.

Dr Awojolu, son of the late Chief Ibidapo Awojolu, a prominent figure in the struggle for the creation of Ekiti State and an influential voice within Afenifere, said the current administration has demonstrated fidelity to the dreams of the state’s founding fathers by prioritising development initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.

He spoke shortly after the bimonthly meeting of APC ward leaders held in Imesi Ekiti, where party stakeholders gathered to assess progress, fine tune mobilisation strategies and consolidate support ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.

The medical practitioner noted that ongoing state and federal government projects across various communities have begun to yield visible results, particularly in rural areas that for years grappled with poor access roads and inadequate public facilities. According to him, the deliberate focus on rural integration is gradually narrowing the development gap between urban centres and hinterland communities.

Awojolu stated that Gbonyin and Aiyekire Local Government Areas have benefitted from intervention projects aimed at stimulating local economies, boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening social infrastructure, adding that the administration has shown commitment to equitable distribution of projects without sidelining any community.

He described community engagement as a defining feature of the present government’s approach, stressing that regular interaction with ward and local government stakeholders has enhanced responsiveness and inclusiveness in governance. He expressed satisfaction with what he termed steady development across critical sectors of the state’s economy.

On the forthcoming June 20 local government election, Awojolu expressed confidence in the preparedness of the party to secure victory, assuring that structures have been reinforced from the polling unit level upward to ensure effective coordination and voter turnout. He urged eligible residents yet to complete their voter registration to do so, noting that broad participation strengthens democratic legitimacy and accountability.
