Engr. Olaoluwa Dawodu (EOD) Pays NECO Fees for Isan-Ekiti Secondary Students, Monarch Commends Initiative, Inspires Hope Among Youths

In a move that has drawn commendation from traditional authorities, parents, and education stakeholders, a frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Ekiti North Federal Constituency I, Engineer Olaoluwa Dawodu, has paid the National Examinations Council fees for secondary school students in Isan Ekiti, a gesture widely described as timely and impactful in the face of rising economic pressures on households.

The intervention, which directly benefits a significant number of students preparing for their external examinations, has been hailed as a practical demonstration of leadership that prioritises human capital development, especially among young people in rural communities where access to educational support often remains limited.

Speaking during the presentation of the sponsorship, the Onisan of Isan Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Adejuwon, represented by the Olori Onisan, lauded Dawodu for what he described as a noble and forward looking initiative, noting that investment in education remains one of the most sustainable pathways to community development and long term prosperity.

The monarch emphasised that such gestures go beyond mere philanthropy, adding that they represent a conscious effort to secure the future of the younger generation while also reinforcing the values of responsibility and service among emerging leaders in society.

Oba Adejuwon further observed that many families have struggled in recent times to meet basic educational expenses, including examination fees, making Dawodu’s intervention not only commendable but also deeply relieving for parents and guardians who had been worried about their children’s academic progression.

Students who benefited from the gesture expressed appreciation, describing Engineer Dawodu as a role model whose actions have inspired them to remain focused on their studies and aspire to contribute meaningfully to society in the future.

Some of the beneficiaries noted that without the intervention, their chances of sitting for the examination would have been uncertain, stressing that the support has renewed their hope and strengthened their determination to excel academically.

In his remarks, Engineer Dawodu who was represented by the Director General of His campaign Team, Mr Oluwatosin Ojo explained that the initiative was part of his broader commitment to supporting education and complementing the efforts of the Ekiti State Government in improving access to quality learning opportunities across communities.

He noted that education remains a cornerstone of development, adding that any society that neglects its young people risks undermining its own future, a situation he said must be consciously avoided through deliberate and sustained interventions.

According to him, the decision to sponsor the NECO fees was informed by the need to ease the burden on families who are currently grappling with economic realities, while ensuring that no willing student is denied the opportunity to sit for a crucial examination due to financial constraints.

Dawodu further assured that his aspiration to represent the people of Oye and Ikole Local Government Areas at the National Assembly is rooted in a genuine desire to foster inclusive development and deliver people oriented policies that address real needs.

He stressed that if elected, constituents would witness expanded initiatives in education, youth empowerment, and community development, noting that his current efforts are only a reflection of what he intends to institutionalise through effective representation.

The aspirant also highlighted the importance of aligning private initiatives with government programmes, stating that development can only be accelerated when individuals, communities, and government institutions work collaboratively toward shared goals.

Community leaders present at the event also described Dawodu’s intervention as a reflection of responsive leadership that understands the everyday challenges faced by ordinary citizens. They pointed out that beyond political considerations, the gesture has already made a tangible difference in the lives of young people, thereby setting a standard for others in positions of influence to emulate.

Parents of the beneficiaries who could not hide their relief, expressed gratitude for what they described as a timely intervention that has lifted a heavy financial burden from their shoulders. Some of them noted that the support has allowed them to redirect limited resources to other pressing needs within their households, while ensuring that their children remain on track academically.
