The Chairman/CEO of Road Network Global Resources Ltd, Mr Charles Ifidon, the owner of 53 ultra modern shops in Ekiti-ODUA Enterprise Centre, Fmr ODUA Textiles Mill, Old Iyin Road, Ado Ekiti has asked the Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) to provide a Suspected Criminal handed over to them on the 27th of April 2022.
According to a report, One Ojo Olawale Matthew, a Native of Iṣẹ Ekiti and resident at Irona Area of Ado Ekiti was caught at Awedele Market Area of Ado Ekiti at the Site of one of the Properties of the Company stealing and vandalizing the roofing sheets and other materials worth millions of Naira meant to complete the project.
The Suspected Serial robber was said to have escaped arrest by the O’odua Security personnel at different times but nemesis caught up with him around 9pm on the 22nd of April 2022 when the Company’ security officers in Collaboration with NSCDC armed personnel arrested him and taken to the Command’s Headquarters.
According to a witness, who is the area manager of the O’odua Investment Ltd. Mr Ayo Ogunrinde ” We observed a very great vandalization and disappearance of some roofing sheets and other items at the project site in Awedele. The investment is on the land of our company and it behoves on us to protect all the property in our care, we began to lay ambush on the culprit but he had been escaping arrests.
The suspect attempted to murder one of the security details attached to the Awedele Area during a duel, stabbing his face and nearing to pierce the eyeball. We took both the suspect and the wounded officer to the hospital and footed the bills. We trusted the capacity and capability of the Command after they assured us that the suspect would be prosecuted.
After 3 weeks or more that we started mounting pressures on them to take the matter to court, they revealed that they had released the suspect on bail because they could not detain more than 24 hours.
This left us wondering. They released a suspect without any trial, without any recourse to us? What about the property he stole, what about his attempted murder? What about the vandalization of Property? This is uncalled for! The NSCDC Should should not be an accomplice or shield to criminals.
This is very saddening and we are calling on the State Commandant, Mr John Fayemi to immediately provide the criminal who had destroyed the property of the State owned company.”
The Chairman/CEO of Road Network Global Resources Ltd, Mr Charles Ifidon therefore called on the State Commandant to immediately produce the said Suspect Ojo Olawale Matthew and prosecute him or hand him over to the police for proper investigation and prosecution if the Command cannot hold the trust of the people of the state.
