Ekiti Head of Service Meets EKSMA Officers, Assures Improved Welfare and Resolution of Operational Challenges

The Head of Service of Ekiti State, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi, has assured officers of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency EKSMA of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and the resolution of challenges affecting their operations.

Dr Olomojobi gave the assurance on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, during a meeting with officers of the agency, where she commended them for their dedication to duty and their role in maintaining order and safety on roads across the state.

She praised the officers for projecting a positive image of the Ekiti State Public Service and for effectively representing the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in the discharge of their responsibilities. According to her, traffic officers occupy a critical position in urban management, particularly in ensuring the free flow of vehicles in Ado Ekiti and other major towns.

The Head of Service stressed that the engagement of EKSMA officers by the state government was purposeful, describing their work as essential to public safety and smooth economic activities. She noted that their presence on the roads contributes significantly to reducing congestion and improving the daily experience of road users.

Dr Olomojobi said feedback from the public on the activities of EKSMA was important for policy and operational improvements, while also encouraging officers to openly communicate the challenges they face in the course of their duties. She reaffirmed that Governor Oyebanji’s administration remains committed to good governance, prudent management of public resources and people oriented development under the Shared Prosperity agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the officers, the Public Relations Officer of EKSMA, Mr Ojo Odunayo, outlined several operational challenges confronting the agency. He explained that EKSMA officers occupy a unique cadre within the Ekiti State Civil Service, noting that a scheme of service was approved for the agency on 15 September 2022 by the state government.

Mr Odunayo described the scheme as the first of its kind in Nigeria and appealed to the Head of Service to facilitate its full implementation, saying this would greatly enhance staff morale and improve service delivery across the state.

Responding, Dr Olomojobi addressed some of the issues raised and called for stronger collaboration among relevant arms of government and the communities being served. She stressed the need for the agency to intensify public sensitisation on its operational blueprint, particularly among road users.

She clarified that the primary goal of government traffic management is compliance with traffic rules and public safety, not the imposition of excessive fines on motorists. She added that professionalism and transparency must guide the conduct of officers at all times.

The Head of Service warned that any officer found engaging in sharp practices or misconduct would be sanctioned in accordance with civil service rules. She reminded the officers that they are civil servants and must uphold the ethics and standards of the service in all circumstances.

Dr Olomojobi further encouraged officers to properly document challenges encountered in the course of their duties and forward such reports to her office for necessary action. She also emphasised the importance of continuous training to equip officers with the skills and knowledge required for effective service delivery.

In his remarks, the Chairman of EKSMA, Mr Sunday Ibitoye, expressed appreciation to the Head of Service for her timely and constructive engagement with the agency. He assured her that the leadership of EKSMA would work to implement the necessary changes and strengthen the agency’s operations in line with government expectations.
