The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC Ekiti State Command has passed out the female squad as part of the efforts to tackle the challenges of insecurity in the state and requested by Nigerians.
The passing out parade which took place at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado Ekiti had in attendance the Executive Governor of Ekiti State represented by Brig. Gen Ebenezer Ogundana, the Assistant Commandant General Zone J Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla and other invited dignitaries.
Speaking at the occasion, the Ekiti NSCDC commandant Mr Fayemi Olatunde John commended the NSCDC Commandant General in Nigeria, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi for the support given the Command in all areas including the logistics to actualize various trainings and intervention programmes.
Mr. Fayemi also lauded the state Governor, Dr John Kayode Fayemi for creating an enabling environment for harmonious coexistence of residents, peace and security of lives and property.
ACG Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla who represented the Commandant General of NSCDC opined that the security situation of the country called for a concerted effort in order to reduce the rate of crime and criminality in the country.
He called on the state government to accept the female tactical squad so as to assist in the area of safe school system meant to protect public and private school pupils from kidnappers and other criminal elements.
The female squad which is a brainchild of the Commandant General of NSCDC is meant to assist the security architecture of the state as it has been launched in other states of the federation. The female squad will serve as a boost in the security set up by providing needed assistance to the general populace in time of disaster and rescue system.
A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer Mr Tolulope Afolabi noted that Members of the sqaud were trained in the art of rescue system as well as material art.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the female tactical squad to the state governor where they displayed their ability and capability to prevent crimes and assist other security agencies when the need arises.
Also in attendance at the event were the Head of the service in Ekiti State Mrs Peju Babafemi, the Commissioner for Women Affairs Alhaja Mariam Ogunlade and other non governmental organisation like the International Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA among others were present at the ceremony.
