Ahead of the June 18 governordhip election in Ekiti State, a Non Governmental Organization under the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Justice Development and Peace Initiative JDPI in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Ekiti State Council have resolved to engage all candidates of political parties participating in the election.
The programme tagged Manefeto to Agreement Drive is aimed at creating a platform for candidates to reel off their manifestos and signed an agreement to implement the blue prints if elected.
The first phase of the programme was held prior to the 2018 election and there after surveys on the performance of government was carried out and result published by JDPI and NUJ.
Speaking with newsmen after a meeting held at the Bishop’s Court Ado Ekiti, the Director JDPI Father Emmanuel Akingbade said this year’s programme would involve Ekiti Elders.
He added that the programme would be held in the month of May, adding that all candidates would be dully communicated. Also speaking, the Chairman of NUJ Ekiti State Council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela promised that the programme would be well publicized both in print and electronic media.
