EKSG Gives Hybrid Seedlings to Farmers, Says It’s bent on Agriculture for Economic Viability

Subsidizes 50 percent  cost for Farmers

In a bid to continually ensure support for Maximum productivity for small holder farmers as part of the food security effort in the state, the Ekiti state government has introduced a financing intervention support.

Under the scheme, smallholder farmers would be provided with improved seeds and seedlings with a 50% subsidy.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and food Security Mr Ebenezer Boluwade explained that the various crops targeted include Rice Upland Faro 59 and Rice Lowland Faro 44, SWAN F1, open-pollinated maize, cassava stems, and cocoa hybrid seedlings.

According to him these hybrid seedlings which have high pest resistance capacity,and high yield will boost farmers productivity at a very low costing.

Boluwade called on farmers in the state to take the advantage of the scheme to enrich themselves and the state by extension noting that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji was bent on unveiling the state’s agricultural potentials for economic viability.

The statement further reads that interested farmers should contacts or visit the Ekiti state Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for more information and clarification.
