As Christians across the world continue their fasting for the Lenten season, the distinguished member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly representing Gbonyin LCDA and Aiyekire Local Government, Princess Teju Okuyiga has called Christian faithful in her constituency to intensify prayers for President Bola Tinubu and the Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji.
In a message made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, the lawmaker encouraged her constituents to embrace the sacred period as an opportunity to seek divine favor on the Nigerian leaders while charging them to contribute to the well-being of their communities through work, prayers and reflections.
She urged believers to use the fasting season to offer prayers for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of Ekiti State, emphasizing that the spiritual journey is a collective endeavor for societal betterment.
The ranking legislator and chairman of the House Committee on Finance, stressed the importance of unity, patience, and devotion during this holy season, calling on Christians to embody the virtues of the Lenten period in their daily lives.
Highlighting a unique aspect of the current period, she noted that the simultaneous fasting of Christians and Muslims signals a profound call for unity, urging citizens to reject religious bigotry and to pray for Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria as a whole. She commended the traditional rulers in the area for their roles in Peace, progress, security and stability in the area.
Okuyiga particularly called for prayers for the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, luading his commitment to the development of the state and the welfare of its people, and stressing that collective support is vital for sustained progress, being the only way governor’s vision for a greater Ekiti be realized.
She remarked, “I felicitate all Christians in Gbonyin and Aiyekire as they continue on this spiritual journey of fasting, reflection, and charity. May God accept your prayers and sacrifices.”
Fondly known as Asoju Ayiye by her people, Okuyiga assured her constituents of her commitment to quality representation and the advancement of their interests.
She reaffirmed her dedication to pursuing legislative initiatives that aim to enhance the standard of living in her constituency, promising to work tirelessly on policies that would bring about tangible improvements for the people.
