THE STAKEHOLDERS FORUM OF THE FEDERATION OF EKITI STATE STUDENTS UNION (FESSU) has strongly condemned the attack on the leadership of the Union by the SSA to the Governor on Students’ Matter Barrister Lekan Soyombo who was spotted to have slapped the FESSU National President Prince Charles Awolola in a video circulating online.
The Forum in a communique issued on the 17th of March 2022 expressed disappointment in the lack of decorum and courtesy displayed by Barrister Soyombo who was believed to be a learned person and could have overtime adjust to the Omoluabi Creed of Ekiti people having stayed years in Ekiti and given opportunity to serve in the revered Fayemi’s administration.
They also berate the SA to the Governor Mr Moses Ademiloye, for involving in the moves that distrupted the Union’s Election held at the Government House Pavilion, Ado Ekiti on Saturday 12th March 2022.
The Forum noted that the duo have failed to learn and exhibit the character and virtues of their principal, Governor Kayode Fayemi whose stands have always been towards the protection of people’s right, good governance, Nation building, morality, mentorship and strengthening of democratic principles.

The Communique which was signed by the members of the Drafting Committee, including Prince Akinola Charles, Adebayo Ayiti, Engr Lekan Adewale, Tunde Oluwasimirin, Funsho Olajide reads that
“We like to reiterate that the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union is an independent Association and not in any way under the appendage of the SSA/SA Office, we affirm that political appointees can only play observers role at FESSU Elections.

We note with absolute displeasure, the unruly behavior of the SSA to the Governor on the election day, leading to a physical assault on the National President of the Union and some delegates. We like to state that Mr. Soyombo’s action and act of public misconduct is not only utterly repugnant, odious and embarrassing, but also a complete embarrassment to our Union as an Institution, its past and present Leaders and indeed all students of Ekiti State origin at home and in the diaspora.
We demand that Mr Lekan Soyombo aka Lincoln openly and publicly apologise to the President of FESSU, Comrade Awolola Charles as well as all Ekiti Students, for his embarrassing conduct. We affirm that his conduct completely negate the Omoluabi creed of Ekiti people. The apology should be well published and circularized within the seven (7) days from today 18th day of March 2022″
The FESSU Stakeholders’ Forum urged the Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi to as a matter of urgency call these two aides to order to henceforth stop interfering in the internal affairs of the Union and portraying his good administration in a bad light.
They called on all the FESSU Executives, Members and all stakeholders to remain calm and await further directives from the relevant organs of the Union, saying that the administration of Dr Kayode Fayemi is not the one of hooliganism as demonstrated by the aides.
