The Federal Government of Nigeria has commended says that the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere Ekiti is fulfilling the mandate of the 21st century University with the various human and infrastructural development the school had experieced in the last two years.
President Muhammadu Buhari who on Friday commissioned a Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND Project worth 318m in the University, marvelled at the fast speed at which the institution was growing saying it was already making a good name in the global reckon.
The President, who was represented by the Hon Minister of Trade, Industries and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, stated that the Project: “TETFUND-sponsored Vocational Education Workshop Complex of 2017/18/19 Merged
Annual Intervention”, is for the provision of requisite infrastructure and capacity building to aid teaching, learning and research and skills development in the Institution.
He called on the Management, Students and Staff members to take advantage of the Project and maintain it judiciously and add more to the glory they achieving.
In his words,
“This delivery of projects sponsored by TETFUND is to provide requisite infrastructure and capacity building to aid teaching, learning and research and skills development.
“I am glad to note that the Vocational workshop is worth 318,085,000 million naira.
“I therefore wish to admonish the University to take huge advantage of these Facilities and make good use of them”
Also, the executive secretary of TETFUND, Arch. Sonny Echono, noted that the agency would ensure continued delivery of mandate to their beneficiaries no matter the state of the economy.
The Secretary, represented by Arch. Babatunde Olajide, also said that the Government is irrevocably committed to providing enabling and learning environment for the Students of the University.
“Despite the decline in our economy, we would remain focused to the delivery of our mandate and supporting excellent innovation at our Institutions of learning.
“I wish to state here that the Government is irrevocably committed to providing enabled learning environment that will enable scholar students thrive and excel around the world.”
While extending appreciation to the President, the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Olufemi Adeoluwa, said the building facility will further enhance higher quality of delivery and equip staff and students with acquisition of relevant skills and knowledge that’ll give them competitive edge above their peers.
Adeoluwa thanked the Federal Government for the Project, assuring that it will serve maximum benefit to the University community. He asked for more of such projects to assist state institutions grow at the same place with their world counterparts.
According to him,
“We extend our unquantifiable appreciation to Buhari, through TETFUND Intervention. The facility will further enhance higher quality of delivery and equip staff and students with acquisition of relevant skills and knowledge that’ll give them competitive edge above their peers.
“I wish to place on record that the University has benefited immensely from the various intervention by TETFUND.
“Our Students and staff will take advantage of this unique opportunity and maximise all the potentials in the facility to the fullest.”
Present at the event were the Pro-Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Oladipo Aina, Former Commissioner of Works in Ekiti State, Sola Adebayo, Deputy VC, Dr Ibitola Makinde, among others.
