Officials of the United Kingdom led by the Deputy High Commissioner (DHC) Mr Ben Llewellyn- Jones were in Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun /Ifelodun Local Government Area of EKiti State on a site seeing and inspection of the 792 hectares of Land proposed for the construction of the state Natural Ecotourism Park in the Town.
The Officials who were received by the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti Oba Adeniyi Adeola Ajakaiye and the Oluyin-in -council at the Palace were taken round the town by the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and former Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Dr Eniola Àjàyí.
According to the UK officials, the visit was to congratulate the people of Iyin Ekiti on the earmarking of 792 hectares Oke-Esa and Oke-Abanijorin areas as protected zones which will be run as a State Natural park for ecotourism, leisure and conservation.
This they said will be in collaboration with the community and landowning families.
They noted that part of the missions was also to inspect the new collaboration with International Tree Foundation of the UK, which has planted 2,000 indigenous & forest product-bearing trees to restore degraded farmland this year.
The team of the tourists took a guided trek up the Oke-Abanijorin mountain, Iyin Ekiti as they noted that the the geographical space of the town was good for tourism construction.
