Idowu Iranlade Popoola Commends Oyebanji’s Disaster Management Strategy in Ekiti, Urge Residents on Preparedness

Prince Idowu Iranlade Popoola has lauded the proactive measures adopted by the Ekiti State Government in addressing emergency situations and strengthening disaster management mechanisms across the state.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, the APC stalwart and Prince of Otun Ekiti commended the swift distribution of relief materials to residents whose homes were affected by last week’s rainstorm in some communities, describing the intervention as timely and reassuring.

Popoola noted that natural disasters often expose the preparedness and compassion of governments, stressing that the rapid response by the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji demonstrated a clear understanding of its responsibility to protect lives and property.

According to him, the immediate assessment of the affected areas and the prompt delivery of essential materials to displaced families helped to cushion the impact of the storm and restore hope to victims who suddenly found themselves in distress.

He stated that beyond physical reconstruction, the psychological support that comes from visible government presence in moments of crisis cannot be overstated. For many of the affected residents, he said, the intervention signaled that they were not abandoned in their time of need.

Popoola described the action as further proof that the Oyebanji led administration is not only development focused but also responsive and humane, especially when confronted with unforeseen challenges.

He added that effective disaster management requires planning, coordination and empathy, noting that the state’s emergency response structure appears to be evolving into a more efficient and community centered system.

While commending relevant agencies for their professionalism, he urged residents to continue cooperating with government officials during such interventions to ensure accurate assessments and equitable distribution of support.

Popoola reaffirmed his confidence in the governor’s leadership, stating that consistent proactive measures in times of crisis strengthen public trust and reinforce the image of Ekiti as a state where governance is both responsible and people oriented.
