IGSOSA Rallies Stakeholders Against Examination Malpractice, Seeks Support for 70th Anniversary

Parents, teachers and critical stakeholders in the education sector have been urged to close ranks in tackling examination malpractice and safeguarding the integrity of the nation’s academic system as the Ifaki Grammar School Old Students Association intensified preparations for the institution’s seventieth anniversary celebration slated for January 24, 2027.

The National President of IGSOSA, Kunle Olofintuyi, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Principal of Ifaki Grammar School, Adedayo Olaniyi, where he lamented what he described as the alarming rate of examination malpractice in Nigeria’s education system and stressed the urgent need for collective responsibility.

Leading members of the newly inaugurated National Executive on the visit, Olofintuyi maintained that old students must not stand aloof while standards decline, insisting that alumni associations across the country have a moral obligation to contribute meaningfully to repositioning and strengthening the education sector through mentorship, resource mobilisation and value reorientation.

The IGSOSA President, who is a former General Manager of the State Emergency Management Agency, underscored the importance of instilling a strong maintenance culture to preserve facilities provided by alumni and other donors, noting that infrastructure development must go hand in hand with accountability and sustainability to ensure long term impact.

He also used the occasion to formally call on all sons and daughters of Ifaki as well as friends of the institution to support the forthcoming seventieth anniversary celebration, assuring that the alumni body would continue to mobilise financial and material resources to advance the development of the school while encouraging teachers to remain steadfast in their commitment to excellence.

Responding, the Principal, Adedayo Olaniyi, affirmed that the management of Ifaki Grammar School remains determined to sustain its reputation as one of the leading secondary schools in the area, revealing that top priorities include curbing examination malpractice, strengthening discipline and expanding infrastructure, particularly the establishment of a functional ICT centre that would require about three hundred computers alongside improvements to the library and additional classrooms.

Some teachers who spoke during the interaction commended the alumni for the visit and pledged their readiness to work toward greater achievements for the school, while also calling for adequate recognition of their contributions and assuring the management of their support in efforts to uplift academic standards.

The delegation later paid homage to the Olufaki of Ifaki Ekiti, Adegbenro Falore, who promised to give due consideration to the requests presented and highlighted ongoing government interventions in the community including the Ifaki Esure Eyio Awo Road, Ado Iworoko Ifaki Road and Ifaki Orin Ido Road projects, after which the alumni presented an award to the monarch and conferred on him the title of Grand Patron of IGSOSA.
