An Ode Ekiti born renowned pharmacist and grassroots mobiliser of the All Progressives Congress, Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, on his emergence as Governor of the Year 2025 by Leadership Newspaper and Governor of the Year on Infrastructure by New Telegraph Newspaper, describing the honours as well deserved recognition of focused and inclusive governance.
Oluwasanmi, in a statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, said the awards were not only personal victories for the governor but collective achievements for the people of Ekiti State whose resilience and cooperation have driven the administration’s development agenda. He noted that the recognitions reflected a growing national acknowledgement of the state’s steady progress under Oyebanji’s leadership.
Governor Oyebanji had earlier been announced as Leadership Newspaper’s Governor of the Year 2025 in recognition of what the organisation described as outstanding leadership and transformative impact across key sectors. Barely 24 hours later, he was again honoured by New Telegraph Newspaper as Governor of the Year on Infrastructure at a ceremony held in Lagos.
Oluwasanmi said the back to back honours demonstrate the credibility of the governor’s six pillar development agenda, which is anchored on the Ekiti State Development Plan 2020 to 2050 and designed to deliver shared prosperity. According to him, the administration’s methodical implementation of this long term blueprint has produced visible results in infrastructure renewal, human capital development and economic growth.
The pharmacist turned political mobiliser observed that investments in road construction and power infrastructure across communities have significantly improved connectivity, commerce and rural integration. He said these projects have not only enhanced the ease of doing business but have also strengthened confidence among investors and development partners.
In the health sector, Oluwasanmi noted that the reduction in neonatal, infant and under five mortality rates within the last few years points to deliberate policy choices and strengthened primary healthcare systems. As a healthcare professional, he said he has seen firsthand the impact of improved facilities, increased manpower support and expanded access to essential services.
He also commended the administration’s strides in education, particularly the state’s improved ranking in the reduction of out of school children, describing it as a critical investment in Ekiti’s future. For him, a state that prioritises education lays a durable foundation for innovation, productivity and social stability.
Oluwasanmi further referenced Ekiti’s top ranking in the BudgIT State Fiscal Transparency League for consecutive quarters, stating that prudent financial management and transparency have distinguished the state in a period when public trust in governance remains fragile in many parts of the country.
He said recognitions from reputable institutions such as Leadership Newspaper and New Telegraph Newspaper reinforce the fact that Ekiti’s governance model is attracting objective national appraisal. He added that previous honours from media platforms have consistently highlighted the governor’s commitment to accountability and service delivery.
As a grassroots mobiliser, Oluwasanmi said the overwhelming endorsement of the governor by stakeholders across the state ahead of the next electoral cycle reflects genuine public confidence rather than political choreography. He maintained that the support stems from tangible improvements in the social and economic lives of ordinary citizens.
He described Governor Oyebanji as a bridge builder who has fostered unity across political divides while keeping governance people centred. According to him, the administration’s inclusive approach has ensured that development is not concentrated in urban centres alone but extended to rural communities where basic infrastructure and social services are most needed.
Oluwasanmi assured that party faithful and community leaders would continue to mobilise support for policies and programmes that deepen development gains. He said the awards should serve as motivation to consolidate ongoing projects and scale up interventions in youth empowerment, digital economy expansion and enterprise development.
While congratulating the governor once again, the Ode-Ekiti born pharmacist urged citizens to sustain their cooperation with the administration, stressing that enduring transformation requires collective effort. He expressed optimism that the coming years would witness even broader achievements that would further position Ekiti as a model of transparent, inclusive and impact driven governance in Nigeria.
