As the Ekiti State House of Assembly marks its second anniversary, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and philanthropist, Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi, has congratulated the lawmakers for their unwavering dedication to legislative excellence, describing their performance as pivotal to the current strides recorded by the state under Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Oluwasanmi, a community developer and indigene of Ode-Ekiti, in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, lauded the Assembly’s resilience, legislative productivity, and institutional reforms, which he said have played a crucial role in stabilizing governance and delivering democratic dividends to the people of the state.
According to him, the successful passage of six fresh bills and their subsequent assent by Governor Oyebanji, bringing the total number of bills passed and signed into law within the last year to 13, is a remarkable testimony to the synergy between the legislative and executive arms in the state.
He noted that such progress could not have been achieved without robust intergovernmental cooperation and the unalloyed commitment of the 7th Assembly to their constitutional duties, commending the Assembly’s approach to lawmaking, which he said was people-centered, transparent, and technologically driven.
Oluwasanmi was particularly delighted by the Assembly’s recognition as Nigeria’s most ICT-compliant and digitally integrated legislature, describing it as a revolutionary leap into modern legislative practice.
“With the digitization of its proceedings, the Assembly has become the first to grant full participatory access to citizens, denizens, and netizens across the globe,” he stated.
He commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, for his exemplary leadership and visionary drive saying that Aribasoye, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Conference of Speakers and Chairman of the Southwest Caucus of State Assemblies, has provided what he called “transformational guidance” to the Assembly.
Oluwasanmi listed Electricity Power Sector Law, 2023, which empowers the state to independently generate, transmit, and distribute electricity, thereby opening the door to private sector-led energy development, the Bureau of Asset Management Law, 2024, which provides a legal framework for the management and optimal utilization of government assets, and the Local Content (First Amendment) Law, which promotes indigenous contractors and fostering local economic growth among other laws, as remarkable and strategic to the endogenous strive and desire of the state to develop in all senses.
“Beyond its lawmaking function, the Assembly has been celebrated for its commitment to digital transformation. With the successful implementation of an e-parliament system, proceedings are now streamlined and accessible, with plenary sessions broadcast live and records archived on a fully functional website. The Assembly’s commitment to inclusive governance is also evident in its constituency engagement programs. Lawmakers have prioritized grassroots consultations, bringing governance closer to the people and fostering public trust in state institutions. This is highly visionary” He said.
Oluwasanmi also applauded the Assembly’s social responsibility initiatives, citing the over N80 million invested by spouses of lawmakers to support widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups as a reflection of the human-centered orientation.
The APC stalwart stressed that the success of the Assembly reflects the political maturity and shared vision of Ekiti’s democratic institutions under Governor Oyebanji. He encouraged the lawmakers to sustain the momentum and continue to serve as a beacon of legislative excellence in Nigeria.
He urged other state assemblies across the federation to draw inspiration from the Ekiti example, particularly in terms of digital openness, civic participation, and responsiveness to the needs of the populace.
As the Ekiti Assembly begins another new legislative year, Oluwasanmi expressed hope that even greater heights would be achieved, with more progressive bills, citizen-focused initiatives, and innovation in legislative practice.
He urged them to see Ekiti project as a collective mission saying that Oyebanji must be supported to cross the finish line of taking Ekiti completely out of poverty and retrogressive lines.
Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi also used the opportunity to rally support for the reelection of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the 2026 governorship election.
He described the governor as a “performer with results to show,” noting that the transformation recorded in all sectors of the state, including legislative development, is a testament to Oyebanji’s visionary leadership and commitment to Ekiti’s progress.

He asserted that Oyebanji’s style of governance, anchored on humility, inclusivity, and competence, has restored public confidence in democratic leadership and deserves continuity beyond 2026.
He called on party stakeholders, political appointees, and members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly to begin early mobilization efforts to consolidate the governor’s achievements and secure a second term that will further deepen development gains across the 16 local government areas of the state.
According to him, Ekiti cannot afford to derail from the current path of steady growth and responsive governance.
He reaffirmed his personal commitment to the governor’s political success and urged all lovers of development in Ekiti to be part of what he described as “a historic journey toward sustainable transformation”, expressing optimism that with the unity currently being fostered across the party and the state, the reelection of Oyebanji in 2026 is not just achievable, but inevitable.
