*PERSONS vs PEOPLE*
(10 Impediments to Becoming A Successful and Great Personality)
One of the greatest Poets ever lived, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, once said, “The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night.”
Going by the position of Wadsworth Longefellow, your ability to do or fail to do what successful people did or didn’t, can determine your success. Yesterday I discussed 10 principles that lead to success, today I am going to discuss 10 impediments that an individual must avoid to be successful.
1. Lack of Self-discovery: You have not started living until you discover yourself. Lack of self-discovery is a failure of human destiny
2. Lack of Vision: Shortsightedness and inability to envision a better tomorrow can retard your success and limit your greatness
3. Lack of Focus: Distractions and strange attractions are enemies of success. To succeed, you must not lose focus
4. Failure to Set Goals: Successful people are goal-oriented. To be successful, you must be a regular goal-setter.
5. Giving Excuses: If you are fond of giving excuses, you can never get results. You cannot succeed if you always have excuses to justify your failures.
6. Inverted Priorities: To succeed, you must learn to set priorities. Failure to set priorities or have inverted priorities can hinder your success
7. Laziness: No pain no gain. If you are lazy you cannot be successful. Successful people are hard-working individuals
8. Wasted Opportunities: Failure to identify and maximise opportunities of a lifetime can hinder progress and limit greatness
9. Dependency: You cannot always depend or rely on others to be successful. True success requires personal conviction and self-involvement
10. Abuse of Grace: Failure to appreciate and abuse of God’s Grace can cause setbacks, retrogression, and failure.
*NOTE:*
True success is attainable for as many who are willing and ready to pay the price. Your journey to greatness won’t start until you embrace principles that guarantee success and deal with impediments that hinder it.
