Ramadan, Lent Coincide, Adedayo Oluwasanmi Greets Faithful, Seeks Collective Rebirth in Ekiti, Urged Sustained Prayers For Oyebanji

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ode Ekiti and renowned Pharmacist, Adedayo Oluwasanmi has called for renewed faith, unity and a stronger sense of shared responsibility among residents of Ekiti State, describing the simultaneous commencement of Ramadan and Lent as a rare moment of spiritual convergence.

In a goodwill message released on Wednesday, the 2027 House of Representatives hopeful urged Muslims and Christians across the state to embrace the dual observance as a collective opportunity for moral rebirth, deeper reflection and peaceful coexistence. He noted that the alignment of the two sacred seasons presents a powerful reminder of the enduring values that bind communities together beyond religious affiliations.

Addressing the people of Ekiti State, particularly those in Ekiti East, Gbonyin and Emure Local Government, Pharmacist Oluwasanmi described the coincidence as both symbolic and instructive. According to him, “It is not a coincidence without meaning that Ramadan and Lent are beginning on the same day. It is a powerful reminder that beyond our different religious paths, we are united by shared values of sacrifice, compassion, discipline and service to humanity.”

He congratulated Muslim faithful on the commencement of Ramadan, noting that the holy month of fasting, prayer and almsgiving remains a cornerstone of spiritual purification and social consciousness. He equally extended warm greetings to Christians as they begin the Lenten season, which he described as a solemn period of repentance, introspection and renewed commitment to godly living.

The APC chieftain stressed that both seasons converge on universal principles of restraint, self examination and compassion for the vulnerable. He urged residents to allow the spiritual discipline of the period to translate into practical acts of kindness, integrity in leadership and responsible citizenship.

Oluwasanmi further called on political leaders, community stakeholders and youths across the constituency to draw enduring lessons from the significance of the moment, emphasizing that faith must inspire ethical conduct and service oriented governance.

He appealed for increased support for widows, the elderly and struggling families during the period, insisting that genuine devotion must be reflected in compassion and solidarity with the less privileged.

Commending religious leaders for their continued role in fostering peace and moral guidance, he urged clerics to sustain messages of tolerance and unity, especially at a time when the nation requires collective healing.

The Ode Ekiti born Pharmacist turned politician reaffirmed his commitment to the socio economic advancement of Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, maintaining that spiritual renewal should go hand in hand with sustained efforts toward development and inclusive growth.

He prayed for peace and stability in Ekiti State and the country at large, saying, “May this season of Ramadan and Lent usher in healing for our land, strengthen our unity and renew our collective resolve to build a more just, peaceful and prosperous society.” He concluded.
