U I LANDSCAPE RESTORATION EDUCATION NETWORK PARTNERS EKSU, FUTA, OTHERS ON FOOD SECURITY

In a bid to ensure food security towards improving the livelihood of Nigerians,a five day training organized by University of Ibadan landscape restoration education network in partnership with Ekiti state University,Federal university of Technology, Akure and Green abundance development and empowerment foundation is on going in ado ekiti.

The theme of the training is “landscape restoration Dynamics and governance,Building capacity of ecosystem practitioners in Nigeria

Stakeholders in environmental sector, academia and ecosystem management  gathered at the event aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s capacity in land restoration.

A Participant Contributing to discussions

The convener of the programme, Professor Adejoke Akinyele,who is the Dean faculty of renewable natural resources,University of Ibadan noted that the programme came at a critical time when Nigeria is experiencing landscape degradation, threatening food security and livelihoods.

A representative from the Green to abundance development and empowerment foundation,Mr Tope Faboya explained that the training was designed for practitioners and early career professionals,in order to equip them with both the technical knowledge and the social skills required to drive inclusive and participatory restoration projects.

Participants at the event said that landscape restoration was not just an environment process but one that connected ecological sustainability with human well being and effective governance.

Two students from Ekiti state university Ado Ekiti and federal university of Technology Akure shared the new skills they’ve gained in the course of the Workshop.

The training is expected to produce new generation of restoration professionals capable of driving transformational change in Nigeria’s environmental management systems and contributing to climate resilience and sustainable development.
