The former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Woman Leader in Ekiti State, Mrs Yemisi Afọlábí has felicitated with Muslim faithfuls in Nigeria, most especially Ekiti State for witnessing this year’s Eid-el-Kabir Sallah celebration.
In a statement containing a congratulatory message, personally signed by Afolabi and made available to the press, the Political stalwart described the Eid el-Kabir festivity as a period of sacrifice, sharing and caring and that faithfuls must imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, love, unity of purpose and obedience as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The renown philantropist and politician who noted that although Nigerians have been having most of the religious and traditional celebrations amidst security challenges, maintained if people learn the good lessons of the religious reasons for most of the festivals, which in most cases are to teach compassion, selflessness, love and obedience to the commands of God, the Nation would have surmounted some of its major challenges.
Afọlábí urged the people to be security-conscious and report any act of breach of law and order capable of threatening the prevailing peace in the state.
She called for prayers for the Nation’s Development while noting that economic downturn in Nigeria requires divine intervention since all human abilities and knowledge have failed.
According to her ” We must ensure we celebrate with modesty and be security conscious. The current state of Nigeria particularly the issue of insecurity calls for concern and this we hope our people will tender before Allah in prayers for a solution”
