The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state as he held a strategic meeting with senior officials of the Nigerian Army led by the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Major General Obinna Onubogu Nnebife, at the Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti.
Governor Oyebanji who commended the Army and other security agencies for their sustained collaboration in combating crime and maintaining peace in the state assured the military of the government’s continued support through the provision of necessary logistics and an enabling environment to enhance their operations.
Speaking on recent incidents of kidnapping and banditry in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area, the Governor said concerted efforts were ongoing to secure the release of those still in captivity and prevent a recurrence of such security breaches. He also urged military personnel deployed for election duties to remain professional, impartial and committed to maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process.
Earlier, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Major General Nnebife, thanked the Governor for his support to security agencies, noting that Ekiti remains one of the safest states within the division’s seven areas of responsibility.
