Don’t blame us, stop siphoning our future: young educationist warns Parents, Government, stakeholders

The convener of the Annual Spelling Bee competition for the pupils of Private and Public Schools in Ekiti Miss Ifeoluwa Oladunjoye says if proper care and solid efforts are not taken in the Nigerian Education Sector, the country would continue in it agonizing state.

Miss Oladunjoye a native of Orin Ekiti in Ido Osi Local government made the call for a collaboration in salvaging the education sector during a competition organized for Rosebud Nursery & Primary school, Dorcas Place School, The Cradle School, Adonai International School, Canaaland Group of School, Divine Touch School, Beautiful Beginning Integrated School and Treasured Herritage School all in Ado-Ekiti.

The educationist noted that it was important to raise a new generation where reading is taken with utmost priority considering the high level of distractions from focus and digression of values in the society, where  balance child who is well informed socially, academically sound, well cultured, culturally inclined  and morally upright are raised inorder  to rescue today and safeguard the future of the children unborn.

Ifeoluwa pleaded with the older generation to stop hurting and siphoning the future of the younger ones whom they have always be blaming for the ills in the society. She said that the children accused of ill-behaviours are only reacting to the atmosphere created by the older genertion hence the need for the elderlies to lay good examples.

She added that parents also contribute to the poor reading culture calling on stakeholders including government at all levels to take drastic steps towards the revitalization of education in Nigeria.

In her words “children are the message we send into the future, the better trained and equiped they are, the better our society. There is no perfect child because there is no perfection in any human, but raising  balance children is achievable. Balance children well grounded in every aspect of life as they grow to become desirable adults.

The Annual Spelling Bee is the first of our series of event. Beyond the ability to spell, participants are able to build and develop confidence, communication and public speaking skills.

She explained that her objectives are to render assistance in achieving quality education and development of talents for international opportunities and the global standard practices.

She affairmed that they will continue to organise series of event and groom the children with skills and value system that will make them stand at par with peers all over the world.

In the Annual Spelling Bee competition organized for the puplis, Lebile Dahara from Brainiacs International School emerged the best out of the nine participants, Inioluwa Afolayan from Treasured Heritage Schools came second, while Damisi Oyinloye from Divine Touch International School came third.

In a separate interview, parents, teachers and pupils who spoke with journalists include Elder Iwalola Aguda, Mr Olorunfemi Deji and Master Babalola Darasimi commended the efforts of the initiator for her concerns towards re-building the nation’s education sector.

They said, it was time for the elementary, post-elementary and higher education be given priority by those who formulate and implement the country’s education policies.
