The coast is getting clearer for the much anticipated Ekiti Obas Cup Under 18 soccer Championship as the organizers are set to begin the screening exercise on Monday May 9 in Ado Ekiti.
The screening will also hold on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week at different towns where participating teams will converge at designated venues.
The screening committee is headed by a national YSFON screening coordinator, elder Muyiwa Shyllon Aregbesola while other members include match commissioners namely Mr Clement Olusola Adegoke and Mr Shina Oguntuase who is the first vice chairman of Ekiti State Football Referees Association.
Aside Ado Ekiti, other venues for the screening are Aisegba Ekiti , Oye Ekiti, and Aramoko Ekiti as selected teams are to converge at each venue by 12 noon daily.
At least 13 teams namely Ewi FC, Onisan FC, Alara of Aramoko FC, Onigbemo FC, Owa-Oye Okemesi FC, Elemure FC, Owatapa FC, Arajaka of Igbara-Odo FC, Elekole FC,and Onimesi FC.
Other teams that are ready to feature in the Ekiti Obas Cup season 1 are Olukere FC, Olufaki FC, Apeju of Ilupeju FC among others.
In the meantime, the Ekiti Obas Cup organized by Ekiti based Sports promoting outfit, The Gogetter Multi Links has also recieved a boost with the support from an Ekiti born coach based in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) Coach Tade Gboyega.
The Isan-Ekiti born coach who is the Founder of Olutade Gboyega Foundation has taken up the bill for the Gold plated trophy to be won by the eventual champions of the competition.
The gesture has since been applauded by the chairman of the Ekiti Obas Council, Oba Gabriel Adejuwon (Onisan of Isan Ekiti) who said such gesture was necessary to complement the support of the royal fathers towards the competition holding between May 16 and May 31 at different venues across the state.
