Efon Ward Executives laud PDP Ward Congress, commend Chieftain, Akinyele for mobilization, support

The newly elected Ward Executives of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Efon Local Government who emerged from the March 15 Congress of the party have commended the PDP Caretaker Committee, led by Chief Dare Adeleke, for successfully overseeing the party’s ward congresses despite previous disruptions.

Speaking in separate interviews during a congratulatory party organized by a chieftain of the party in Efon Local Government, Otunba Lekan Akinyele, some of the executives across the ten wards of the local government described the success of the congress as a morale booster for the party in Ekiti State and Efon.

Ayeni Babatunji from Ward 5 and Ojo Oladele from Ward 4 and Taiwo Alake from Ward 2 described the peaceful conduct of the congress as a sign that the party is mobilizing for victory in forthcoming elections.

“We believe that the party means business this time. It’s been a while since we’ve witnessed this kind of action and we thank Otunba Akinyele, popularly known as “Yinnuko”, for his gesture to reinvigorate the party in Efon.

Others like Ajayi Titilayo from Ward 1, Ilesanmi Ayodeji from Ward 7 and Alaba Ojo from Ward 6 insisted however that the Ward Congress was a signal for more work to be done, more efforts at mobilization, especially for the leaders who nurtured the process to fruition.

“It’s important to salute the efforts of Chief Dare Adeleke led CTC, especially the efforts of Yinnuko in Efon. His gestures of philanthropy gave us hope and inspired us to keep working for the party despite not being in power. We will continue to be grateful to him”.

In his response, Otunba Lekan Akinyele, called for unity and discipline among party members, emphasizing that loyalty and adherence to party decisions are essential for the party’s success, also warning against anti-party activities.

“I want to commend the party’s dedication to ensuring a transparent and credible process. Despite the fact that the congress had been postponed three times, Saturday’s exercise accommodated all stakeholders and was concluded peacefully across the state’s 16 local governments and 177 wards”.

Akinyele urged the newly elected part executives across the 177 wards to be magnanimous in victory by bringing everyone together for peaceful coexistence. He explained that maintaining a strong and unified party at the ward level would serve as a foundation to building a formidable PDP.

“My decision to host the new ward excos is borne out of love and service to the people. It is not a new thing for me. They’re my people. I know them and they know me for who I am. It’s just my way of encouraging their efforts and for them to unwind after all the stress of politicking”.

He also urged party members to set aside their differences and work collectively towards the PDP’s success in future elections, particularly the 2026 governorship poll. Akinyele criticized what he described as a “master-slave” governance structure in Ekiti State and at the federal level, citing concerns over alleged excessive spending on projects which he said have failed to improve citizens’ welfare.
