Prominent philanthropist and politician, Engr. Bayo Ajayi, has donated 1,000 customized exercise books to children with disabilities in Ekiti State, reinforcing his commitment to inclusive education.
The donation was made during an event in Ado Ekiti, where Ajayi emphasized the need for tailored learning materials to support children with special needs.
The initiative aligns with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s drive to improve the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the state. Ajayi, who has consistently supported the Ekiti State Children’s Therapy Centre, said the donation was in fulfillment of his pledge last year to provide essential learning tools for PWDs.
“These exercise books are specially designed to meet the needs of these children, ensuring they are not left behind in the learning process,” Ajayi said. He further stressed that nation-building is not just about infrastructure but about empowering marginalized groups.
Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola, lauded the initiative, describing it as a significant contribution towards inclusive education. She urged other well-meaning individuals to support similar efforts.
“Inclusion is expensive, but the government is doing a lot. However, private individuals and organizations must also contribute to creating a more inclusive society,” she stated.
Ajayi called on citizens to rally behind the state government’s vision, emphasizing that collective efforts are key to ensuring equitable opportunities for all, especially for children with disabilities.
