Ekiti ex FIDA chairman seeks concerted efforts to tackle insecurities for school girls

The former chairman Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA Ekiti State Chapter and Coordinator Moremi Clinic Barrister Rita Ilevbare has said that the issue of security for girl child in the current Nigeria is complicated and needs serious attentions from stakeholders in the country.

Ilevbare who delivered the 60th Anniversary lecture of the Saint Louis Grammar School Ikere Ekiti adduced the problems of insecurity in the education sector to varieties of lapses in the societal system.

She highlighted ineffective governments’ policies, bad parenting, negative influence of peer groups among others as the major causes of issues causing fears in the Nigerian schools.

She advised parents to pay attention to the complains of their wards now that issues of bullying is rampant in many schools.

 

Ilevbare advised school children most especially girls to always report cases of molestation to appropriate authorities saying that Ekiti State has zero tolerance for cases causing and exposing girl child to insecurities and fear.

 

She gave kudos to the old girls for choosing the topic “Insecurities and the girl child” which she said was very apt considering various incidence for which school girls are victims.

  1. This is really good address by the guest speaker to open an anniversary. At this age and time, school bullying and harassment should be zero tolerance policy in Nigeria. Olden days seniors attitude of maltreating junior ones should be eradicated and parents should have listening ears to hear from their kids, most especially those in the Borden school.
