Ekiti Govt Restates Commitment To Inclusive Education, as Oyebanji pledges continuous support for children with disabilities

The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting access to quality education for children with disabilities across the state.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji gave this assurance through the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, during a sensitization rally held as part of activities marking the 36th Annual National Conference of the Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) in Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking on the theme of the 2025 conference, “Transformative Solutions to Inclusive Education Practices and Accessibility for Learners with Special Needs and Teachers in Nigeria,” Governor Oyebanji emphasized the need for education stakeholders to adopt global best practices in implementing government policies aimed at inclusive learning.

He expressed delight over the steady progress recorded in the sector, attributing the achievements to the commitment of special education teachers and the political will of his administration.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Education, Princess Adetoun Agboola, commended the Governor for his consistent support, describing him as a leader with a deep passion for people living with disabilities.

The National President of NASET, Dr. Catherine Atteng, lauded the Ekiti State Government for what she described as laudable strides in inclusive education. She praised Governor Oyebanji as a “disability-friendly” leader whose policies have continued to create learning opportunities for children with special needs.

According to the organizers, activities lined up for the week-long event include a sensitization rally, opening ceremony, plenary sessions, paper presentations, excursions, and the association’s annual general meeting.
