The dedicated prayer group has Every last Thursday of the month was dedicated for special prayers session as a symbol of solidarity, seeking divine support for the governor throughout his tenure.
The inception of this tradition predates Governor Oyebanji’s election and stems from a deep-seated admiration and respect for him, as it stand as a testament to the steadfast dedication of the women from the 13 wards of Ado-Ekiti.
During the election period, the fervent prayers temporarily found a home at Ori Oke Ezekiah in Erio Ekiti, a move that bore fruit as Governor Oyebanji emerged victorious. The faithful women have continued this spiritual practice, extending their petitions to seek divine guidance and protection, with a focus on supporting his second-term bid.
Their confidence in the governor’s re-election is fortified by a revelation predating the general election in 2022. Originally conducted at Aso Rock along Ikere Road, the venue was relocated due to a transformation into a hotel and relaxation center, causing unnecessary distractions.
Bose Adebiyi, a member from Ward 11, explains the impacts of the spiritual exercise on the state noting that Ekiti has enjoyed relative peace, progress and development since Oyebanji assumed office.
The women pledge to sustain their support until Governor Oyebanji completes his constitutional eight years. Even in the post-tenure period, should the governor endorse a candidate, the women believe that the candidate will inherit the essence of his principled leadership.
