In a bid to quell the persistent tension within the Araromi Obo Community, the Management of the Ifedara Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Honorable Lawrence Ogunsanya, orchestrated a pivotal peace accord signing on Thursday, marking another stride in the ongoing community and sectorial engagements undertaken by the LCDA.
Ogunsanya, in his capacity, convened the gathering which saw community leaders from Araromi Obo converge to ratify the peace pact.
The council’s engagements demonstrates the Ifedara LCDA’s concerted efforts toward community cohesion, sustainable development, and inclusive governance, setting a promising trajectory for the welfare of residents and the advancement of the locality at large.
Emphasizing the commitment of his administration to fostering development across all communities, Honorable Ogunsanya called for unity among the residents of Araromi Obo, underscoring the imperative of a cohesive front to leverage the opportunities for democratic dividends.
During the discourse aimed at propelling communal progress, Ogunsanya judiciously sidestepped contentious matters surrounding the issue of Obaship in the town, citing ongoing legal processes, saying that he postponed his scheduled Thank You tour visit to the community to mitigate potential disruptions.
Amidst the signing of the peace accord by community leaders, the Chairman reiterated the indispensable role of collaboration and mutual understanding in enhancing development and progress.
The Community leaders including Prince Akin Ola Samuel from Elemobo lineage, the President of Araromi Obo Ekiti Mr Adedara Sunday, the Elemo Mr Adebayo Alfred, Mr Niyi Adebayo chairman of the community development council, Mr Niyi Adebayo and Mr Alabi from Odolofin family all witnessed the Peace meeting organized for the conflicting groups.
Others who spoke include Mr Dayo Olowookere and Mr Ebenezer Ojo all who patiently witnessed different narratives and presentation of Documents to back up arguments.
Ogunsanya called for the cooperation, urging them to work as a team to achieve development for their community.
The Chairman also called on them not to allow the Obaship tussle to cause havoc on their peaceful co-existence. He lauded the conflicting parties for showing understanding and willingness to resolve amicably, noting that the council was willing to establish and extend actual impact of good governance in all the comprising communities with the Slogan of leaving no one behind.
He charged them to work harmoniously with the regent, abide by the government pronouncement and withdraw all court cases against the Olori and wait for the supreme court Judgement on the Obaship case, while constituting 4 man committee from both parties to resolve within themselves and call for security cautiousness and be watchfulness in their various areas.
Ogunsanya further emphasized the need for a united front for them not to be marginalized.
Echoing the sentiment of the Chairman in sueing for peace, the council secretary hammered that any community with internal rift will never experience growth.
In Attendance were the Vice chairman Hon Sola Olowojebutu, the secretary to the council Hon. Afolabi Ariyo, the HLA ,Engineer Falade, the DA Mr. Alade and representatives of security agencies.
The council director Administrative, Mr Alade particularly pleaded with concerned individuals and parties to allow the People’s access to the properties of the community.
