As Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji marks his third year in office today, eminent pharmacist, community leader, and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi, has extended warm felicitations to the Governor and the people of Ekiti State describing his tenure as a beacon of purposeful leadership, people-centred governance, and enduring development in Ekiti State.
In a statement made available to the press in Ado Ekiti, Oluwasanmi, who hails from Ode-Ekiti, said the past three years under Governor Oyebanji have reflected a steady consolidation of progress, peace, and prosperity in all sectors, attesting to the Governor’s promise to build a shared vision of growth anchored on inclusiveness, accountability, and partnership.
He noted that the Governor’s leadership style has rekindled faith in governance among the people, citing his humility, accessibility, and deep sense of empathy as qualities that have endeared him to citizens across political, religious, and professional divides.
According to Oluwasanmi, “Governor Oyebanji has proved beyond doubt that leadership is not about rhetoric but results. From infrastructure to education, health, agriculture, and youth development, Ekiti has witnessed measurable progress in just three years, and that deserves celebration.” he said
The pharmacist-politician commended the Governor for prioritising the welfare of workers through prompt payment of salaries and pensions, clearing backlog arrears inherited from previous administrations, and ensuring that Ekiti’s public service regains its pride of place as a model of diligence and integrity.
He recalled that the Oyebanji administration’s infrastructural renewal drive had transformed many local governments, particularly through the rehabilitation of rural roads, reconstruction of township roads, and expansion of water supply schemes, all of which have enhanced socio-economic activities across the state.
Oluwasanmi particularly applauded the completion and reconstruction of the Ado-Iworoko–Ifaki dual carriageway, describing it as a symbol of the Governor’s commitment to continuity and sustainable development. “That project is more than a road—it is an artery of economic life that connects communities, farmers, and markets,” he said.
He further highlighted the Governor’s focus on education, noting that the recruitment of qualified teachers, renovation of public schools, and investment in digital learning tools have revived the state’s long-standing reputation as the “Fountain of Knowledge.”
In the health sector, Oluwasanmi praised the administration’s rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres, provision of modern medical equipment, and introduction of health insurance schemes that ensure access to affordable healthcare for vulnerable citizens.
The APC chieftain also commended Governor Oyebanji’s interventions in the agricultural sector, including the youth-in-agriculture programmes and partnerships with development agencies aimed at promoting food security and agribusiness in Ekiti.
He said the Governor’s strategic partnership with private investors and federal agencies has brought about new opportunities for job creation, rural development, and industrial expansion, citing the Ikun Dairy Farm and other agritech collaborations as shining examples.
Oluwasanmi lauded Governor Oyebanji for his inclusive governance model, which has brought stakeholders from various backgrounds—politicians, traditional rulers, religious leaders, professionals, and youth leaders—into participatory dialogue and state decision-making.
He described the Governor’s approach as “a leadership style that listens, learns, and leads,” adding that such inclusive engagement has ensured that no segment of Ekiti society feels alienated or ignored.
According to him, the calm political environment and absence of rancour in the state are testaments to Oyebanji’s maturity and consensus-driven leadership. “He has succeeded in turning politics from bitterness into brotherhood,” he said.
The pharmacist further acknowledged the Governor’s passion for youth empowerment, especially through the establishment of the Youth Development Council, vocational training centres, and support for innovation and entrepreneurship.
He said these efforts have provided young people with the tools to compete globally and contribute productively to Ekiti’s development. “Governor Oyebanji is not just building infrastructure; he’s building the next generation,” Oluwasanmi remarked.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support for Ekiti State, which, he said, has manifested through the ongoing federal projects, fiscal interventions, and policy collaborations that complement the state’s developmental agenda.
Oluwasanmi noted that under President Tinubu, Ekiti has begun to witness renewed federal presence, particularly in road projects, social investment programmes, and agricultural initiatives that are helping to stimulate local economies and create jobs.
He thanked the President for his fatherly guidance and political mentorship to Governor Oyebanji, describing the synergy between Abuja and Ado-Ekiti as a model of federal-state collaboration that should be sustained.
“As a loyal party man and patriot, I must commend President Tinubu for standing by Ekiti. His vision of renewed hope is alive in this state through Governor Oyebanji’s performance,” Oluwasanmi affirmed.
Reflecting on the Governor’s modest personality, Oluwasanmi said Oyebanji’s humility remains one of his greatest strengths. “He doesn’t rule with an iron hand; he governs with a compassionate heart. That is why Ekiti people love him,” he added.
He recalled that the Governor’s developmental philosophy, popularly captured in the mantra “Shared Prosperity,” has guided the administration’s projects and policies, ensuring that the dividends of democracy are evenly distributed across all communities.
Oluwasanmi also noted the Governor’s strong commitment to transparency and accountability, which has attracted the confidence of development partners, donor agencies, and investors to Ekiti State.
He said Governor Oyebanji’s ability to continue projects initiated by his predecessors rather than abandon them is a rare political virtue that demonstrates maturity and continuity in governance.
The pharmacist urged Ekiti citizens at home and in the diaspora to continue supporting the Governor, stressing that governance is a collective responsibility. “When leaders perform, the least we can do is give them our backing to sustain the progress,” he said.
He called on political leaders, traditional institutions, and community organisations to remain united behind the administration, saying that Ekiti’s strength lies in its unity, resilience, and shared vision for progress.
Oluwasanmi concluded by congratulating Governor Oyebanji on his remarkable journey so far, urging him to remain focused, steadfast, and people-oriented as he begins the next phase of his tenure.
“Today is not just a celebration of three years in office; it is a celebration of three years of integrity, humility, and tangible progress. The Governor has set a standard worthy of continuity,” he declared.
He expressed confidence that with the continued partnership between Governor Oyebanji and President Tinubu, Ekiti will continue to soar higher, recording even greater milestones in its journey toward inclusive and sustainable development.
“On behalf of the good people of Ode-Ekiti and the APC family, I say congratulations to our performing Governor. Ekiti stands with you, and we shall continue to walk with you on this path of greatness,” Oluwasanmi said warmly.
The APC stalwart concluded his message with a prayer for divine wisdom and renewed strength for the Governor, expressing hope that the coming years will usher in even more prosperity, unity, and peace for the Land of Honour.
