The Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to the well-being of elders in the State.
This remark was made during the induction of distinguished personalities into the Ekiti Elders Hall of Fame, an event organized by the Ekiti Council of Elders in Ado-Ekiti.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Peju Babafemi, commended the Ekiti Council of Elders for instituting the Hall of Fame. He said it was a worthy legacy that would promote hard work, resilience and altruism.
The Governor congratulated the awardees describing their achievements and contributions to development as spanning through generations.
The Governor emphasised that the honour showcases the honorees as exemplary leaders and an inspiration for pursuing ambitions and lifestyles rooted in integrity and good character, which our Ekiti forefathers were renowned for.
He urged leaders and upcoming leaders to emulate the honorees who undoubtedly have set the template for success and excellence in their various fields and distinguished themselves as iconic leaders.
Furthermore, Governor Oyebanji emphasized that his administration’s vision of shared prosperity ensures the welfare and well-being of everyone in Ekiti, regardless of gender or age.
The President of the Ekiti Council of Elders, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi also congratulated the inductees and described them as embodiments of ‘Omoluabi’. He commended them for their invaluable and indelible impacts on humanity.
According to a statement by Femi Bamisaye, Director Press, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, personalities inducted to the Ekiti Council of Elders Hall of Fame were Late Lt. Col. Francis Adekunle Fajuyi, (who was represented by his son), Aare Afe Babalola CON, Chief Deji Fasuan MON, Prof. Olufunke Egunjobi, and Prof. Wole Olanipekun, SAN.
