EKSG will continue to implement policies on the prevention of human trafficking

Ekiti State Government under the leadership of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji will continue to implement policies aimed at preventing human trafficking in the State.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Peju Babafemi made this assertion during the courtesy call of the team of officials of the Ekiti Liaison Office of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP).

She said the Governance Agenda of the administration on Human Capital Development is aimed at enhancing the utilisation of the potential of the people through diverse support and empowerment.

In a statement by the Director of Press, Babafemi reiterated the efforts of the administration of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in keeping boys and girls in school through free access to qualitative education up to the Senior Secondary School.

Babafemi also commended the advocacy efforts of the wife of the Governor, Her Excellency, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, in advancing the cause of the less privileged.

The women Commissioner expressed the Ekiti State Government’s determination to vigorously combat human trafficking, calling on community leaders, civil society organizations and religious leaders to join hands with the government in combating human trafficking in the State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs.Tayo Olatilu, expressed the readiness of the Ministry to work with the Task Force for Human Trafficking to make the unconducive source, transit and destination place for human trafficking.

Earlier, the Head of NAPTIP, Mr. Samson Oladimeji, expressed the agency’s need for support and partnership with the state government to combat human trafficking in Ekiti State.

He reported that 18 victims of Ekiti State origin had been rescued this year, from Libya, and Mali.
