Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has said that workers in the state had continued to impress him with the level of their productivity and effective service Delivery.
The state helmsman who was represented by His Deputy Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi at the 2022 Workers’ Day celebration held at the Ekiti Parapò Pavilion Ado Ekiti noted that his administration received maximum support from civil servants and workers of the private sector, the more reason he had always given utmost attention to their welfares.
The Governor who commended the state Head of Service Mrs Peju Babafemi for providing quality leadership through various initiatives brought into the civil service said that she had proven herself beyond doubt as a visionary and exceptional leader.
Fayemi also thanked the leadership of the organized labour: Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for cooperating with his administration to achieve the best for the state.
Earlier the State Head of Service Mrs Peju Babafemi lauded the synergy between the government and the workers, she attested to the fact that government was doing everything necessary to make live worth living for the workers as well as making their dreams and aspirations come true.
Babafemi therefore charged workers across Departments and agencies to continue in their supports for the Fayemi led administration.
The leaders of the organized Labour: NLC and TUC Kolapo Olatunde and Sola Adigun respectively gave kudos to the effort of the government particularly in transparency and accountability. They lauded the increment in the pension fund, implementations of 2020 and 2021 promotion exercise, and the implementation of 2017 and 2018 promotions.
They however noted that there are areas needing urgent attentions of the government.
Speaking on the theme, ” Labour Politics and Quest for good governance and development of Nigeria” the duo blamed the current level of development in the country on poor governance which they said had caused unemployment, crime, poverty, hunger and making vices inevitable in the society.
They called for more trainings and capacity building for workers for effective service delivery, implementation of 30 thousand Naira minimum wages from Grade level 13 and increase in the monthly subvention to Tertiary institutions.
