The Special Assistant to the Governor on Ekiti State Service Delivery, Mr. Toba Fatunla, has described Governor Biodun Oyebanji as a promise keeper whose administration has continued to prioritize youth development through consistent empowerment, employment, and international exposure initiatives.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, Fatunla commended the governor for fulfilling several commitments made to young people during the pre-election engagement sessions, noting that the administration has practically demonstrated sincerity and commitment to youth advancement in the state.
He recalled that before the 2022 governorship election, youths in Ekiti had demanded deliberate policies focused on what he termed the “Four Es”: Employment, Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Exchange Programmes, to position them competitively among their global peers. According to him, Governor Oyebanji not only listened but has gone ahead to deliver beyond expectations.
Highlighting some of the achievements, Fatunla pointed out that the Oyebanji-led government had sponsored members of the Ekiti Youth Parliament to international diplomacy conferences, including one in Ghana last year, and that another batch of youths had just returned from a similar international learning experience. He said the gesture had broadened their minds and provided them with a global perspective on leadership and innovation.
Fatunla also cited the government’s numerous recruitment exercises through TESCOM, SUBEB, and the health sector as major contributors to youth employment in the state. He added that over 5,000 youths had been enrolled in the “Bring Back Youths into Agriculture Initiative,” with dormitories constructed across farm settlements to accommodate young farmers. He noted further that the state government recently disbursed ₦76 million to over 100 poultry farmers and injected an additional ₦300 million into the agricultural youth scheme.
According to him, “No government has paid subvention to youth organizations in Ekiti State better than the present administration. The Oyebanji government has sustained multiple layers of skills empowerment through innovation hubs, digital economy training, and the successful execution of exchange programmes that foster global learning and exposure.”
Expressing the gratitude of Ekiti youths to the governor, Fatunla said the youth constituency remains proud of Oyebanji’s leadership, describing him as a visionary who matches words with action. He, however, appealed for continued support to sustain the gains already achieved, noting that the administration’s focus on inclusive youth participation is shaping a generation that will uphold excellence long after the governor’s tenure
