Ado Ekiti.

…….It is not about him, but about our collective interest, but we see him to be the proper driver of our goal for a change in our political narratives……..

The ambition of a notable and vibrant former students’ leader in Ekiti state, Comrade Babajide Petkoff Akomolafe to serve as a member of the State House of Assembly received a stamp on Wednesday when he submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to the state Secretariat of the Social Democratic Party SDP.

The Former National President of the Federation of Ekiti State Students’ Union FESSU had earlier on Tuesday in Abuja led to the National Headquarters of the SDP by members of the Babajide Akomolafe Supports Movement (BASM) under the leadership of their Director Mr Kehinde Ajakaye to obtain the forms for the candidature of the Igede Ekiti born youth politician.

The BASM Director and another notable leader Mr Adedapo Olasunkanmi Who led the team to Abuja noted that they concerted efforts at raising funds for the ambition of Akomolafe having considered his pedigree as a vibrant youth whose stands and efforts were always geared towards better life for the citizenry.

They explained that his achievement through various programs and initiatives before, during and after he served in Students unionism, development and humanitarian service till date, shows that he has the clear vision for quality representation of the people of Irepodun Ifelodun Constituency 1 in the forthcoming political dispensation.

According to them “People with such brains, Charisma, ingenuity, innovations, initiatives and programs must be left wasting away, they must be recognized to serve in better positions for a better society and collective development.

Akomolafe is indeed a blessing to our constituency and we know this. This is the reason we are pushing this at all cost, putting our resources together to ensure that we present a candidate who is candid indeed. He is a grassroot mobilizer and he commands influence among the youth in Ekiti state.

He is an Omoluabi to the core, respectful to the elders, a leader with listening hears and very futuristic. That is why people nicknamed him *Aare of Peace,

This project is not even about him, it is about our collective development, our future and the future of our children. Akomolafe is a bridge.”

They urged the people of Igede and Iyin Ekiti constituents to take the advantage of presenting a youth who understands the terrain and has the genuine concerns for their development.

Submitting the forms at the Ekiti SDP Secretariat in Ado, Mr Akomolafe thanked the BASM for their unalloyed support to the agenda of the rescue mission, particularly making an impactful legislation for the people of Igede and Iyin Ekiti.
He said his ambition was not the business as usual where politicians neglect people after election to seek personal gains and aggrandizement.

In his words, “I must say that I am overwhelmed with this show of love and loyalty to the course of our collective belief. It is high time we changed the narratives in the political clime and socio-economic impact of democracy on our people“.

While assuring them of total commitment to their well being, Akomolafe solicited support for the victory of the Governorship Candidate of the SDP Chief Segun Oni. He noted that the Rescue Mission requires a collective effort, hence all hands must be on deck to salvage the state from those siphoning its future.

The Ekiti State SDP Chairman Ikunola among other executive members of the party commended the loyalty of Mr Akomolafe towards the genuine course of developing the state. They described him as a party man in whose much confidence is reposed.

Earlier also in Abuja, the SDP National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Garbam lauded the courage of Mr Akomolafe, expressing the belief that he would do well if given the opportunity to serve better having considered his antecedents.

At the occasion were members of BASM across the state, the Director General of the Campaign team Mr Ekundayo Isaac Sunday, SDP Chairman in Irepodun Ifelodun, Mr Kolapo Fasuan, and political leaders of various wards in Igede Ekiti including the Women leader Mrs Popoola,  Mr Alade FF, Mr Anunlopo Jide, (Moon) the youth Cordinator,  Mr Dauda among others who throw their solid weights behind Mr Babajide Akomolafe.
